from Allison Harter
Greetings from Mountain
View, CA!
Welcome home! Welcome
to the wonderful community of Soul Coaches!!!
If you wish to simply
send and receive e-mail with your individual Soul Coaching group and
the international SoulCoaches yahoo groups, then you do NOT need to
do anything. This means it is not necessary to do anything
further with a Yahoo Groups account or Yahoo ID or anything like that if
you are happy with sending and receiving e-mail.
I will add you to the
international SoulCoaches yahoo group when Denise asks me to. Until you
are signed up with the international SoulCoaches yahoo group, you can
ignore anything that mentions the international SoulCoaches yahoo
group. You can check it out once you are added to SoulCoaches. I will
send an e-mail to your individual Soul Coaching group, SC–XX when I have
added your group to the international SoulCoaches yahoo group. Thank
you.
The amount of e-mails to
the global SoulCoaches group varies. You may wish to check out the
section below - IDEAS FOR HANDLING LOTS OF E-MAIL . Have
patience and tolerance and compassion and make friends with your delete
button... : )
Since not everyone may
be best friends with their computer and the internet, I do a simple add
of everyone to the yahoo groups so if you are happy with simply sending
and receiving e-mail, you do not need to do anything else. For those
who are more computer and internet savvy there are some other potential
options that you may wish to consider although they are not necessary.
In an effort to reduce
the number e-mails, this one e-mail contains many, many different
things. They are all completely OPTIONAL, however, you may want
to save them for future reference or not. I am also including a
Microsoft Word document at the end of this e-mail that contains this
e-mail. For some reason the formatting is off in the text that is
copied into the e-mail, however, you can open the attached document in
Microsoft Word for better formatting.
You will find a mixture
of information below collected over the years arising from various
scenarios. I have included a lot of things in this very, very, very
long e-mail. I have divided it into sections with bolded headings. You
do not need to read them all, however, they are there for your
reference.
The sections
below are all *OPTIONAL* :
) SOUL COACHING WEBSITE
LISTING
) ORDERING FROM HAY
HOUSE
) SHARED SOUL COACHING
BUSINESS INFORMATION
) GENERAL GROUP THOUGHTS
AND TIDBITS
) IDEAS FOR HANDLING
LOTS OF E-MAIL
) TROUBLESHOOTING

) OPTIONAL CREATING A
YAHOO GROUP, ROUGH STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Just a little info... I
assist Denise in creating and setting up the Soul Coaching yahoo groups
on a volunteer basis. I have done it quite a few times and so it seems
to just work. I simply setup the groups for Denise by adding e-mail
addresses associated with names and then add those same people to the
international SoulCoaches group. If someone changes an e-mail address,
then I can change their e-mail address with the group(s). I can also
remove them from a group if they so desire.
If you would like your
e-mail address changed, added, or removed from the global SoulCoaches or
the individual SC-XX yahoo groups, please let me know. If you would like
your e-mail delivery on one or both groups set to daily digest, let me
know. If you have any questions or concerns beyond e-mail changes, I
will try to assist as time permits. I take care of the Soul Coaching
yahoo groups on a volunteer basis. I do not usually read your individual
group e-mails unless some issue arises that requires me to do so. You
may contact me directly at aharter@learningsummit.com.
I have included some no
guarantee information about Yahoo IDs and other things to give people
some idea if they choose to pursue things, however, sharing the
information is what I choose to offer as a volunteer as there are over
300 people in the global SoulCoaches group.
Getting in over my head
the first time... I helped the first group that I was in as someone
familiar with yahoo groups posted pictures and was rather insistent that
people use a yahoo id and login to the group. Some people were not best
friends with their computers or the internet and so it took a long, long
time to get everyone to be able to have access to the group site and I
spent a fair amount of time on the phone with several people. That was
the Soul Coaching group that I attended so it was my good friends and my
first time dealing with yahoo groups and everything associated with it.
I learned from that experience that it can be very tricky for some
people for a variety of reasons and that I don't have the bandwidth in
general as a volunteer to be able to help each and every person get a
Yahoo ID and get everything associated with it working.
Take whatever resonates
with you and let go of the rest.
Once you return home you
do the 28-day program together beginning on the start date agreed upon
in class. The material you use is the 28-day program part from the Soul
Coaching class binder and/or the material on the CD and/or Denise’s
book.
Enjoy your 28-day
program!
Lots of Love and
Blessings,
Allison Harter

SOUL COACHING WEBSITE
LISTING
*******************************************************************************
LuAnn Cibik handles the
listings on the Soul Coaching website. Thank you LuAnn!
Contact her via e-mail:
luann@inner-harmony.org
It is LuAnn's gift to
all Soul Coaching grads to place their name FOR FREE on the Certified
Soul Coach list on the Soul Coaching website with your name,
location and contact information listed (phone number, website address,
or e-mail). To be included, she needs your permission to do this.
E-mail her at
luann@inner-harmony.org with a statement
like ‘I give you permission to list my information on the
www.soul-coaching.com
site’, and include your name and contact information listed (phone
number, website address, or e-mail) so that people can contact you
directly. (She generally updates the site about once per month or so
depending on her schedule.)
Be aware that the Soul
Coaching website is a public site and sometimes you may receive some
junk e-mails from someone who was searching the internet for people to
market to and then from the Soul Coaching website may use the e-mail
addresses to send advertisement e-mails. One way to avoid this is to
simply list your website or phone number. However, this means one more
step for potential customers who may wish to e-mail you. It is up to
you.
If you wish to be listed
in the Featured Coach section of the
www.soul-coaching.com
website, please contact LuAnn at
luann@inner-harmony.org . These are the
listings with the pictures and the Bios… clients really want to know a
bit more about you before they trust you with their soul! It’s easy and
affordable to be listed. As of May 2008 it is $120 for a two year
listing and $90 for 1 year, however, check with LuAnn for current
pricing. You could create your 150-200 word bio, and then e-mail that,
all your contact info, and your picture (or company logo) to LuAnn.
You don’t need to be a
featured coach to list your upcoming groups… its a free calendar
system that you can access

ORDERING FROM HAY HOUSE
*******************************************************************************
To order from Hay House:
1) You may fax your
certificates to Hay House at 1-800-650-5115 or 1-888-510-0510.

life, this may or may not change at some point in time. Hours from the
Hay House website Mon-Fri, 7:00 am- 5:30pm PST/PDT

GENERAL GROUP THOUGHTS
AND TIDBITS
*******************************************************************************
Keep in mind I simply
help Denise out with setting up the yahoo groups, adding and changing
people's e-mail addresses when appropriate, and sometimes help out with
some other things when time allows...
On occasion there are
little blips in the group, however, in general the groups run
themselves. Denise has offered suggestions from time to time and so have
others in our group.
This and the other Soul
Coaching yahoo groups are setup as private as I know how to make them.
They are not even listed publicly on yahoo groups. As far as I can
recall, in the five or so years I have been involved with the Soul
Coaching yahoo groups, we have never had true spam, where someone
who is not a member of our group sends us something that is completely
inappropriate. People who are part of our group cannot even send e-mail
to the group from an e-mail address that is not part of the group unless
it is added to the group by myself or another backup moderator.
Be understanding and
forgiving
with others and yourself regarding our SC e-group.
Sometimes people may post things that don’t work for you.
So... for me I simply
accept that in general things happen for a reason. I love being part
of such a wonderful community of magnificent individuals. Since we
are all individuals that means we are different and unique. The old
saying I think is ‘different strokes for different folks.’ For me I do
remind myself from time to time that everyone is different. So what
works for me doesn't necessarily work for the next person...
I am good friends with
my delete button.
Who am I to decide what is or is not appropriate??? so I don't decide
what is or isn't appropriate. I either read it or delete it. If it isn't
something good for me, that's ok. It could be exactly what someone
else needs to hear. It could be life transforming for someone... I
don't know...??? and so it goes...
Also it is a little
tricky... I don't necessarily need to hear that a particular person or
every person who is sending prayers or energy to someone, however, it
sure is nice to know that we have such a wonderful community of kind and
loving individuals who are willing to be there for others. I know
that often many of us do send out prayers or energy to people as
requested and don't send e-mails, however, it is nice to actually
hear/read that people are doing it and so lovingly and that warms and
opens my heart even more and gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeling of being
surrounded by love. Everyone is different so this is just how it works
for me today in this moment...
Here are some general
guidelines.
1) One-Liners: If you
have a simple one liner, like “Thanks” or “me too” or “good job” etc.,
please send it to the person directly.
Otherwise everyone’s e-mail boxes get very full.
2) Subject Line: Put in
a subject that describes what the e-mail is about.
3) Graciousness: The
e-mails are often hard to gauge for emotional intent so please use
kindness, compassion, support, and joy when communicating in the
e-group.
4) Signing off
Identification... Who
are You? and Where do You Live?: If you are willing, I'd love to see
your full name, class number and area of the world, as well as your
e-mail address (either at the beginning or end of each e-mail). I know
it takes a second or so longer to paste this information in, but I love
it when someone does this. For me personally, I feel more connected to
the sender when I know their name and can place them in the world. And
we ARE all over the world.
A) Name: Please put
your full name.
B) Class Number
C) Area of the World:
City & State/Country
D) Your e-mail address
(Name) Susan White
(Class Number) SC 42
(Area of the World -
City & State/Country) Centerville, California,
United States

OPTIONAL IDEAS FOR
HANDLING LOTS OF E-MAIL
*******************************************************************************
I am including some
optional ideas for handling e-mails. On occasion there may be a lot of
e-mails arriving in your e-mail program. Sometimes it seems
overwhelming. You may already be aware of some options, but just in case
you aren't I have listed some below. This applies to any yahoo group,
SoulCoaches and/or your individual SoulCoachingXXXX or SCXX groups.
1) Daily Digest
You could have a daily
digest from the group, which I believe would mean that you get one
e-mail a day from the group containing all the individual e-mails from
that day. Some people like and prefer this. This is relatively simple. I
could set it up for you if this is what you want, just send me an e-mail
at aharter@learningsummit.com .
2) No E-mail option, use
Yahoo ID on group website
Another option is to get
a yahoo id and then read the e-mails/posts on the group website. I could
change your membership to no e-mail, just send me an e-mail at
aharter@learningsummit.com .
If you would like to get
a yahoo id, I have included some old step by step
guidelines/instructions that some
people find helpful in
the process, just let me know. This is a bit more involved. You would
need to go through the process as it requires some information and
verification via e-mail.
3) E-mail organization
a) Some e-mail programs
have the capability of allowing you to create a separate SoulCoaches
folder in the e-mail program and then setting up a filter such that all
e-mails containing SoulCoaches@yahoogroups.com in the To: field
go to the newly setup SoulCoaches folder.
b) If your e-mail
program has the capability, you may create a separate folder for e-mail
to be read later. Move any e-mails you want to read later to that
folder.
4) Get a separate free
yahoo e-mail address just for Soul Coaching e-mails or just for the
global SoulCoaches yahoo group.
5) Use the Delete
function
Personally, I use option
and option 3a and 5.
*******************************************************************************
*OPTIONAL*
TROUBLESHOOTING
THOUGHTS/IDEAS
*******************************************************************************
All of the info below is
completely *Optional* if you are getting your messages via e-mail and
are not having any difficulties.
E-mails undeliverable
because of full e-mail boxes or other reasons:
If yahoo tries to send
e-mail to your e-mail address and it gets bounced back because your
mailbox is full or because of some other problem, then yahoo groups
stops sending e-mail to that address until a while later. A while later
it sends you an e-mail asking you to reactivate your membership. You can
then do as the e-mail says and it should reactivate your membership.
If you ever suspect you
are missing e-mail messages from a group, you can always check out the
messages on the yahoo group site, however, you will need a Yahoo ID.
If you notice you are
missing messages, you can ask the moderator to send a reactivation
request. The yahoo groups does send out a reactivation request after a
while.
Viewing messages you
missed:
To view messages that
you may have missed you can login to yahoo groups with your Yahoo ID and
go to the group and read messages on the group site.
Having Yahoo Find your
groups associated with your Yahoo ID. Note: this is if you already have
a Yahoo ID or want a Yahoo ID and you login and you do not see your
groups listed in My Groups:
) Log into yahoo groups,
www.groups.yahoo.com , with your Yahoo ID
) Click on Manage next
to My Groups.
) At the very bottom in
small print you will see "Don't see all your groups?". Click on it.
) Then it will bring up
Find My Groups with your e-mail address. Click on Continue and it will
search for groups with that e-mail address and then report to you.
If anyone needs OPTIONAL
rough, step by step instructions for getting a Yahoo ID, I am including
those in this e-mail as well.
*******************************************************************************
*OPTIONAL*
YAHOO ID INSTRUCTIONS
*******************************************************************************
If you are sending and
receiving messages with the yahoo groups using your
e-mail account and are
happy with that, then you do NOT need a yahoo id. It
is *OPTIONAL*.
If you wish to setup
your own yahoo group, then you will need a Yahoo ID.
If someone in the group
uploads things like files or photos to the yahoo group site, then you
will need a Yahoo ID if you wish to check it out.
I am including
*OPTIONAL* yahoo id instructions that you will find below. No guarantees
of any sort, just some possible assistance. If you wish to get a Yahoo
ID, you may wish to follow the instructions below carefully, one step at
a time. If you are super comfortable with your computer and the
internet, you may be fine on your own. A Yahoo ID is optional. There
is no official support for this. These instructions may be helpful and
do not offer any guarantee of any sort.
I also have rough step
by step instructions for creating a Yahoo Group that are included
below these instructions
as well. No guarantees of any sort, just some possible assistance.
*******************************************************************************
OPTIONAL YAHOO ID
(BEGIN)
*******************************************************************************
1)Go to
www.groups.yahoo.com in your web browser.
If that doesn't work,
type in http://groups.yahoo.com
2)On the top right side
you will see New User?
Click on the Sign Up
to register.
(Once you register, you
would click on Sign In )
3)You will then see a
form you need to fill out to create a user id and
password.
If already have an
e-mail address you wish to use for yahoo groups, enter the e-mail
address you want used for the yahoo groups in
Alternate E-mail.
Please be sure to read
the documents before signing up.
4) Print out your
Account Details.
You may also wish to
write down this information in a location where you keep account ids
and passwords so you can access it easily in the future.
Optionally, you may also
wish to copy and paste them into a word document on your computer and
name it YourName_Yahoogroup so it is easy to recognize.
5) At this point you
have probably received an e-mail in your alternate e-mail address that
you provided. Open your e-mail program that you use for that e-mail
address. Open the e-mail from yahoo and do what it says, like Click on
Verify your_alternate_e-mail_address .
A new window should pop
up and say Thanks Your_Name! Your e-mail address is now verified.
It will have Ready to
move on? Ignore this for now and just leave the window open.
If you are not already
signed in with your Yahoo ID and password, it may ask you to do this.
6) Back in the other
window under Marketing Preferences, Click on Edit Marketing
Preferences. There is a Clear All just below the boxes that you
could select if you wish to uncheck all the boxes. Continue with step
below
7) Continue to E-mail
and on the far right click on update my e-mail addresses.
Click on the circle next
to the e-mail address (the Alternate E-mail you specified above) that
you want to use for yahoo groups.
Click on
Save.
[If you have already
received an e-mail in your alternative e-mail address and verified it,
please do so as in step 5 above. You may need to use your back button
to the Marketing Preferences to then get to E-mail and then update my
e-mail address.]
This will take you back
to Marketing Preferences.
8) Check that the boxes
under Marketing Preferences are either unchecked or checked as you wish.
9) Click on
Save Changes.
10) It says it takes 10
days for the changes to take effect. I am not sure, however, it may
mean you get the e-mails for 10 days until the changes take effect.
11) Click on Cancel
at the bottom of the page.
12) You will now be at
http://www.yahoo.com/
There will be Welcome
message in your Mail from yahoo.
13) On the left hand
side, click on Groups.
You could now click on
your group name and go there.
Once in your group, you
could click on Messages on the left hand side and see the e-mails that
were sent to the group. These would be what you have received at the
e-mail address that is already signed up with the group.
14) If you don’t see any
groups listed under My Groups,
Click on
[Click
here
if you receive Yahoo! Groups e-mail but don't see your groups listed
here]
15) You will now see
Find My Groups
Check the e-mail
addresses listed.
You should see the
e-mail address you specified as Alternate E-mail.
Make sure you see the
e-mail address that has been added to the Soul Coaching groups.
[If you don’t see it,
you can click on add a different e-mail address or verify an existing
one.]
Click on
Continue.
The idea is that it will
find memberships associated with your e-mail addresses.
[If you already have
another Yahoo ID for different yahoo groups, it may tell you that it
found other groups with a different Yahoo ID. One can have just one
Yahoo ID or multiple Yahoo IDs. This is up to you. I think most people
have one to keep it simple. However, if someone is a member of lots and
lots of groups, perhaps they have more than one.]
16) If you decide to use
a yahoo e-mail address or a different e-mail address for one or more
Soul Coaching related yahoo groups, please e-mail Allison and let her
know at
aharter@learningsummit.com
with the following.
Your name
Your SC number and/or
date you attended the Soul Coaching seminar with Denise
Your old e-mail address
Your new e-mail address
This way Allison can
change your e-mail address appropriately.
17) You can close the
window you used to verify your e-mail address.
18) You can do whatever
you wish in the yahoo group or click on Sign Out.
A Yahoo ID is optional.
There is no official support for this. These instructions may be helpful
and do not offer any guarantee of any sort.
